Description

(AWP Alliance News) - Sandoz Group AG will join Novartis AG in the SMI 20 index in Zurich, three years after being spun off as a separate drug company.

Sandoz will be added to club of Swiss blue-chips on September 21 as part of an index review by exchange operator and market data provider Six Group AG, Sandoz and Six said on Thursday.

Galderma Group AG, a dermatology and skincare products company, will join the index on the same date, Six said.

Sandoz and Galderma will replace telecommunications provider Swisscom AG and transport and logistics firm Kuehne & Nagel International AG, giving the SMI 20 stronger healthcare industry leaning.

The index already includes pharmaceutical maker Novartis, which spun off Sandoz in late 2023 as a pure-play generics and biosimilar company. It also includes eye care products firm Alcon AG, a Novartis spin-off in 2019.
