European stock movers in focus:

ArcelorMittal SA, up 4.9% at EUR57.28, 12-month range EUR26.35-EUR62.60. JPMorgan raises its rating on the Luxembourg-based steel producer to 'neutral' from 'underweight'. It increases the price target to EUR57 from EUR45 previously. Focusing on the European steel industry, JPMorgan says: "We expect [second quarter] reporting will refocus attention on the transformative impact of 40% cuts to EU steel imports and 50% import tariffs effective from 1 July, which has potential to transfer [more than] 10 million tonnes of demand to EU steel producers."

Thales SA, down 1.7% at EUR222.80, 12-month range EUR212.60-EUR279.30. Jefferies cuts its price target on the Paris-based defence and aerospace company to EUR290 from EUR310. It maintains a 'buy' rating on the stock.

Vodafone Group PLC, up 11% at 108.60 pence, 12-month range 80.20p-131.10p. Investment vehicle Vega, owned by the Xavier Niel family, agrees to acquire Emirates Telecommunications' 16.2% stake in Vodafone Group for GBP4.4 billion, making it the telecom firm's largest shareholder, subject to regulatory approval. Vega says it has no intention of making a takeover offer for Vodafone and plans to engage with the UK government over the transaction. Vodafone says its relationship agreement with Emirates Telecommunications has ended, and e& nominee director Hatem Dowidar has stepped down from the board with immediate effect. BT Group also rises in positive read-across from Vodafone.

St James's Place PLC, down 8.5% at 1,155.75p, 12-month range 1,114.00p-1,575.50p. The Cirencester, England-based wealth manager as Financial News reports that one of its largest partner firms, Sovereign Wealth, is set to leave. It is reportedly in talks about joining Swedish wealth management group Soderberg & Partners.

Sartorius AG, up 4.3% at EUR195.80, 12-month range EUR175.95-EUR267.70. Berenberg raises its price target on the Gottingen, Germany-based pharmaceutical and laboratory equipment maker to EUR270 from EUR250 previously. It maintains a 'buy' rating on the stock.
