European stock movers in focus:
----------
Rheinmetall AG, up 1.9% at EUR1,224.40, 12-month range EUR900.20-EUR2,008.00. Wins a Bundeswehr order worth more than EUR500 million to supply 149 additional protected and unprotected mobile rescue stations under a framework agreement, taking the total number ordered to 165 systems with a combined value of more than EUR600 million. The order, booked in July, is the largest Rheinmetall Project Solutions has ever received. Production is due to begin in the first quarter of 2027, with the systems providing highly mobile emergency medical facilities designed to reflect "lessons learned" from the war in Ukraine.
----------
Partners Group Holding AG, flat at CHF727.40, 12-month range CHF632.40-CHF1,158.00. Closes a new USD1 billion private credit mandate with a major Asian institutional investor, adding to more than five mandates secured in the region over the past year. The bespoke evergreen mandate will invest across senior and junior direct lending opportunities in Asia-Pacific, while the Swiss private markets firm says it continues to see growing demand from Asian sovereign wealth funds and insurers for private credit exposure.
----------
Alcon AG, down 1.2% at CHF59.77, 12-month range CHF47.80-CHF72.88. UBS raises its price target to CHF73 from CHF70 and reiterates its 'buy' rating after a stronger-than-expected second quarter and the company's second upgrade to its full-year earnings guidance. The broker says solid execution and recent product launches continue to offset weakness in intraocular lenses, while it remains positive on Alcon's medium-term growth outlook.
----------
AstraZeneca PLC, up 1.0% at 11,566.00 pence, 12-month range 9,892.00p-15,732.00p. Discontinues its phase III eVOLVE-Lung02 trial after an independent review concludes its experimental drug volrustomig is unlikely to meet its primary endpoints in metastatic lung cancer. The drugmaker, however, reports positive phase III results for Tagrisso plus Orpathys and for Enhertu in separate lung cancer studies, with both combinations delivering statistically significant improvements in progression-free survival, while Tagrisso plus Orpathys also improves overall survival.
----------
freenet AG, down 0.5% at EUR23.68, 12-month range EUR22.28-EUR33.92. Deutsche Bank cuts its price target to EUR29 from EUR33 but reiterates its 'buy' rating after second-quarter earnings. The broker notes adjusted Ebitda and free cash flow were hit by the network operator agreement, though waipu.tv continues to grow its subscriber base and freenet maintains its full-year guidance.
