Description

(AWP Alliance News) - Visa Inc on Monday announced the USD2.4 billion acquisition of Israeli fraud prevention firm, BioCatch.

The San Francisco, California-based payment card services company said the deal complements its existing cyber, fraud, risk and security business, and protect customers from the growing threat of account takeovers, scams, money mules and application fraud.

BioCatch protects 1.8 billion devices and 760 million users around the world, serving more than 350 banking clients in 21 different countries, including more than 100 of the largest banks globally, Visa noted.

"Account takeovers and scams cost the global economy over USD1 trillion annually and AI is enabling these attacks at unprecedented scale," said Andrew Torre, president of value-added services, Visa.

The transaction is expected to close by the end of March 2027.

Commenting on the deal, TD Cowen analyst Bryan Bergin said: "The strategic logic appears compelling and fits Visa's broader push to expand beyond payments into higher-value fraud, risk & identity services."

Shares in Visa rose 1.0% to USD369.66 each in New York on Monday morning.
