(AWP Alliance News) - Stellantis NV on Tuesday said shipments for the third quarter were almost unchanged compared with the same period last year, as an uptick in Europe was offset by planned production shutdowns in North America.
The Hoofddorp, Netherlands-based automotive manufacturer said total shipments for the three months ended September 30 were estimated to be 1.29 million units, down 1% from 1.30 million a year earlier.
In Europe, shipments grew 10% to 588,000 from 534,000, driven by increased demand for electric vehicles of both its Stellantis and Leapmotor brands.
However, in North America, deliveries decreased by 12% to 357,000 from 404,000 due to a planned production shutdown affecting Jeep models.
In the Middle East & Africa, shipments were 21% lower, to 75,000 from 95,000. Stellantis said this reflected weaker market conditions in Turkey and the beginning of local production of small vans scheduled in October, which reduced vehicle imports.
The company also noted that higher shipments to Algeria and Morocco offset lower volumes in the Gulf countries, which were affected by the regional conflict.
Stellantis shares were down 0.1% at EUR3.97 in Paris on Tuesday morning.
