Roche's eye disease drug provides 'significant improvements'

(AWP Alliance News) - Roche Holding AG - Basel, Switzerland-based pharmaceutical company - Announces two-year data on its Vabysmo neovascular age-related macular degeneration treatment. The company says Vabysmo demonstrates "significant improvements in vision and retinal health in patients with polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy... the leading cause of vision loss in people over the age of 60." The results come from the SALWEEN study, in which more than 60% of Asian patients with PCV showed no signs of polypoidal lesions at two years.

"The two-year SALWEEN results demonstrate the sustained efficacy and durability of Vabysmo in people living with PCV, a difficult-to-treat subtype of nAMD that is common in Asia," says Levi Garraway, Roche's chief medical officer and head of Global Product Development. "Since its initial approval, Vabysmo continues to demonstrate strong efficacy, durability and a favourable safety profile in treating a range of high-burden eye diseases."
