Partners Group wins USD1 billion Asia private credit mandate

(AWP Alliance News) - Partners Group Holding AG on Monday said it has secured a USD1 billion private credit mandate from an unnamed major institutional investor in Asia, expanding its bespoke investment solutions business in the region.

The Swiss private markets investment manager said the open-ended evergreen mandate includes a discretionary tranche managed by Partners Group as well as co-investment capital.

The mandate will invest in senior and junior direct lending opportunities across Asia-Pacific, building a diversified portfolio of private credit investments spanning multiple sectors and jurisdictions.

Partners Group said the structure is designed to provide the client with flexible, long-term exposure to private credit while meeting its specific capital deployment requirements.

The firm said it has now closed more than five mandates with major institutional investors in Asia over the past year, including a EUR800 million mandate for a regional sovereign wealth fund to build private equity and infrastructure exposure across Asia and Europe.

Chair of Asia Kevin Lu said: "The latest mandates that we've closed are further examples of institutional investors in Asia looking to build private markets exposure in their home region. We have seen this trend gain momentum recently across multiple asset classes. Within private credit specifically, a growing number of sovereign wealth funds and insurance companies, particularly in Southeast Asia and Japan, are increasing allocations to the asset class due to the attractive risk adjusted returns currently available compared to public fixed income portfolios."

Global Head of Private Credit Andrew Bellis said: "We are very pleased to close this significant new mandate, which will enable our client to build credit exposure within a dynamic region that is of increasing importance to the global economy."

Partners Group shares were 0.1% lower at CHF726.40 in Zurich on Monday afternoon.
