(AWP Alliance News) - Partners Group Holding AG on Friday said it had agreed to acquire a majority stake in AVK Power Solutions Ltd.
The Baar, Switzerland-based private equity firm, will invest over USD1.0 billion of equity into the company "to accelerate future growth."
AVK Power Solutions, the Maidenhead, UK-based data centre power solutions provider, is one of the largest suppliers of power for AI infrastructure in Europe according to Partners.
Partners will "transform" AVK through infrastructure investment in microgrids in order to offer energy-as-a-service to European data centers. The company will finance the programme with equity and debt, adding that the AVK managment team will retain a minority stake.
"AI is driving one of the largest infrastructure buildouts in decades, and access to power is becoming a defining constraint," said Nicholas Pepper, managing director of Infrastructure at Partners Group.
"This constraint and lengthening connection queues are critical bottlenecks to growth in the European data center market, which on-site generation can alleviate by accelerating speed-to-power. AVK, with its deep expertise, track record, and pan-European footprint, is well-positioned to address this issue as a one-stop-shop for data center power solutions," Pepper added.
Separately, Partners announced it had entered into exclusivity with a view to acquiring Aroma-Zone Store SASU.
Aroma-Zone, the Cabrieres-d'Avignon-based beauty and wellness products maker, has a "distinctive product offering and strong customer engagement strategy has driven the creation of a new market in the beauty and wellness industry that caters to a health-focused, modern, and cost-sensitive consumer," Partners said.
"We're excited about this opportunity to become part of Aroma-Zone's journey as it reshapes the beauty and wellness industry," said Andreas Holzmuller, managing director of Private Equity Goods & Products at Partners Group.
"The Company has created a highly engaged community of customers that actively promotes and shares its products, which acts as a competitive advantage that is hard to replicate," Holzmuller added.
Shares in Partners Group closed up 1.4% at CHF732.40 each in Zurich on Friday.
