Nokia and Engie to join Euro Stoxx 50 as VW, Wolters Kluwer drop out

(AWP Alliance News) - Nokia Corp and Engie SA are to join the Euro Stoxx 50 benchmark later this month, the index's operator said Tuesday.

Espoo, Finland-based telecommunications network infrastructure firm Nokia and Paris-based utility company Engie join from September 21, operator Stoxx said. Stoxx is part of Deutsche Boerse AG.

The duo replace Alphen aan den Rijn, Netherlands-based professional software and services provider Wolters Kluwer NV, and Wolfsburg, Germany-based automotive firm Volkswagen AG.

The index tracks "supersector leaders" in the eurozone. It has a maximum weighting of 10% per constituent.

Among those in the index are ASML Holding NV and SAP SE.

Nokia shares were down 0.8% at EUR8.51 in Helsinki on Wednesday, but have more than doubled over the past year. Volkswagen was down 3.3% in Frankfurt at EUR74.06, with shares down by a quarter over the past 12 months.

Wolters Kluwer was down 3.0% at EUR67.72 in Amsterdam on Wednesday, and down 35% over the past year. In Paris, Engie was down 1.8% at EUR23.97 but has risen 38% over the past 12 months.
