Kuehne & Nagel enters "comprehensive" collaboration with Amazon

(AWP Alliance News) - Kuehne & Nagel International AG on Monday announced a long-term strategic collaboration with Amazon.com Inc that has been designed to support future business opportunities and strengthen customer services for both Amazon and its affiliates.

K&N, a Schindellegi, Switzerland-based logistics company, described the partnership with the Seattle, Washington-based e-commerce and cloud computing company as "comprehensive in its scope".

Through this collaboration, K&N aims to strengthen supply chain resilience, scalability and operational efficiency, while also supporting the growth of cloud infrastructure.

"The collaboration includes Amazon Web Services (AWS), encompassing the infrastructure lifecycle from construction and equipment deployment to ongoing maintenance, upgrades and expansion projects," K&N said. "The collaboration is supported by a call option on existing Kuehne & Nagel shares that settles in cash or, at Amazon's election, in shares, with vesting based on commercial milestones and services over a period of up to seven years."

Shares in K&N closed 0.4% lower at CHF215.70 each in Zurich on Friday, while Amazon shares ended 1.0% higher at USD253.71 each that same day in New York.
