(AWP Alliance News) - Intel Corp on Monday said it had entered an agreement to acquire Classiq Technologies Ltd in an effort to build a full-stack quantum computing platform.
The Santa Clara, California-based chipmaker said the acquisition "combines Classiq's synthesis platform with Intel's spin-qubit manufacturing and software expertise...enabling Intel to become a full-stack quantum computing provider."
Tel Aviv-headquartered Classiq, a quantum computing software company, "provides enterprise-grade technology that makes it practical to develop scalable, efficient quantum applications," according to Intel.
"I am delighted to have Nir, Yehuda, Amir and the entire Classiq team join Intel," said Lip-Bu Tan, chief executive officer of Intel.
"For more than a decade, Intel has made remarkable progress in quantum computing by applying its semiconductor innovation, advanced manufacturing prowess and systems engineering expertise to the development of scalable silicon spin-qubit technology. Joining forces with Classiq transforms Intel's Quantum Computing Group into a full-stack quantum computing business," added Tan.
The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2027.
Intel shares closed up 4.0% at USD90.47 each in New York on Monday.
