(AWP Alliance News) - Infineon Technologies AG on Wednesday said it is offloading its NOR Flash & F-RAM business to Winbond Electronics Corp, a Taiwan-based supplier of semiconductor memory solutions, for USD1.12 billion.
The Munich, Germany-headquartered chipmaker said it hopes to close the deal in the second half of 2027.
The business sold comprises a portfolio of NOR Flash memory as well as F-RAM products serving customers across automotive, industrial and infrastructure markets.
"The transaction represents a highly compelling strategic outcome for all stakeholders," said Peter Schiefer, president of Infineon's Automotive Division.
"It allows Infineon to further focus its portfolio and capital allocation on its core growth drivers. At the same time, it enables our NOR Flash and F-RAM business to unlock its full potential."
Winbond will operate the acquired business as a standalone entity with headquarters in Silicon Valley in the US.
Shares in Infineon were up 0.7% at EUR54.69 in Frankfurt on Wednesday afternoon.
