(AWP Alliance News) - Holcim launched a calcined clay production line at its í kovice plant in the Czech Republic, its largest investment in the country at about CZK 1 billion. The facility is the first of its kind in the Czech Republic.
The line has capacity of more than 115,000 tons a year of calcined clay, supporting annual supply of 580,000 tons of ECOPlanet low-carbon cement. Holcim expects the technology to cut the product's carbon footprint by about 30% by replacing part of the clinker with calcined clay.
The project includes CZK 330 million of funding from the Czech Republic's Modernization Fund.
