(AWP Alliance News) - Holcim AG on Thursday said it has agreed to buy European provider of sustainable walling and flooring solutions Fermacell from Dublin-based building materials company James Hardie Industries PLC for EUR840 million.
The Zug, Switzerland-based building materials company said the acquisition expands its offering in European walling, flooring and fire protection.
Headquartered in Dusseldorf, Germany, Fermacell is a leader in high-performance fibre gypsum and cement-bonded boards with projected 2026 net sales of around EUR430 million.
Holcim Chief Executive Miljan Gutovic said: "This strategic acquisition is another milestone in our vision to be the leading partner for sustainable construction, expanding Holcim's high-value Building Solutions in line with our NextGen Growth 2030 strategy."
The transaction value represents an implied pro-forma 2027 earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation multiple of 9.5 times, or 7.6x after run-rate synergies of around EUR22 million to be realised in year three. It is expected to be earnings per share accretive in year one.
The deal, subject to customary clearances, is expected to close in the first half of 2027.
Holcim closed up 0.4% at CHF69.68 in Zurich on Thursday, while James Hardie ended 0.6% lower at USD30.03 in New York.
