GLOBAL BUSINESS: Terna revenue rises; Schaeffler cuts outlook

Terna Spa - Rome-based transmission system operator - Reports fist half group net profit of EUR591.2 million, up 0.6% from EUR587.7 million in the first half of 2025. In the second quarter alone, net profit rises 0.7% to EUR314.7 million from EUR312.4 million in the same period of 2025. Revenue totals EUR2.11 billion, up 12% from EUR1.89 billion a year earlier. Says the increase is partly driven by growth in its regulated activities, supported by an increase in the regulated asset base following the commissioning of new assets and the expansion of the consolidation perimeter after the acquisition of Rete 2 at the end of September 2025. Ebitda increases 7.9% to EUR1.47 billion from EUR1.40 billion. Ebit rises 5.3% to EUR961.4 million from EUR913.0 million in the first half of the previous year. Capital expenditure amounts to EUR1.58 billion, up 20% from EUR1.32 billion in the first half of 2025, while net financial debt falls to EUR12.63 billion from EUR13.00 billion a year earlier. For 2026, Terna expects to achieve revenue of EUR4.41 billion, Ebitda of EUR2.93 billion and net profit of EUR1.12 billion. Also confirms a 2026 investment target of around EUR4.2 billion.

Schaeffler AG - Herzogenaurach, Germany-based manufacturer of rolling element bearings - Now expects fiscal year 2028 sales to range between EUR24.00 billion and EUR26.00 billion, down from EUR27.00 billion to EUR29.00 billion previously. Says this is due to "significantly reduced market expectations, especially for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles". Lowers 2028 E-Mobility division, the sales target to between EUR6.25 billion and EUR7.25 billion from EUR8.25 billion to EUR9.00 billion due to a market-related adjustment of the order backlog. For the Bearings & Industrial Solutions division, now expects 2028 sales of EUR6.50 billion to EUR 7.00 billion, down from EUR6.75 billion to EUR7.25 billion previously. Schaeffler will release half-year results on August 5. Still expects adjusted Ebit margin of 6.0-8.0% and adjusted free cash flow of EUR400 million to EUR600 million.

Banco Santander SA - Santander, Spain-based financial services group - Announces intent to launch an offer to acquire all of Santander Brazil's issued and outstanding common shares, preferred shares, units and American depositary shares that it does not already own, representing approximately 10% of Santander Brazil's share capital. "The transaction is expected to be implemented through voluntary and concurrent exchange tender offers in Brazil and the United States," bank says. Adds the voluntary offer does not seek the delisting of Santander Brazil and is not subject to a minimum acceptance condition. The company is offering a premium of 15% over the reference share price for a total consideration of up to EUR1.91 billion. Consideration will consist of newly issued Banco Santander shares representing up to 1.1% of the share capital today.

Airbus SE, Thales SA, and Leonardo Spa - Leiden, Netherlands-, Pairs and Rome-based aerospace and defence companies - Thales welcomes the UK's announcement of its investment into its nuclear deterrent submarine programme. Thales says: "the 'certainty' provided will help the defence industry plan and invest confidently, supporting delivery of warfighting capability on time and sustaining operational availability, performance and safety across the in-service fleet." Adds: "The investment is expected to strengthen long-term industrial capability and the UK workforce supporting advanced submarine design, manufacture, integration, testing and sustainment." Also, Spain-based Hisdesat signs a contract with Airbus Defence and Space and with Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales and Leonardo for the construction of SpainSat NG III, a new secure communications satellite. Thales says SpainSat NG III "will strengthen the SPAINSAT NG Programme and ensure strategic autonomy in this domain." Airbus Defence and Space will serve as the the satellite's prime contractor. Airbus Defence and Space and Thales Alenia Space will serve as co-contractors. Lastly, Airbus Helicopters delivers the first NH90 Standard 2 to the French Armament General Directorat. "This new variant of the NH90 TTH was designed specifically for special operations. France has ordered a total of 18 NH90 Standard 2 helicopters that will be delivered by mid 2029. They will be operated by the French Army Aviation's special forces squadron in Pau. In December 2025, Spain joined the programme ordering 31 NH90s in a similar standard," Airbus says.

ANZ Group Holdings Ltd - Melbourne-based financial services company - Completes acquisition of Worldline SA's 51% share in Worldline Australia Pty Ltd, taking full ownership of the merchant payments business. Back in April, ANX agreed to acquire Worldline SA's 51% share in ANZ Worldline for an enterprise value of USD89 million with an estimated implied equity value of USD30 million and estimated impact of approximately 6 basis points on Level 2 CET1 on completion of the transaction. "The acquisition aligns to the ANZ 2030 strategy, strengthening our direct relationship with our customers and reinforcing the bank's position as the transactional bank of choice," company says.

Iberdrola SA - Bilbao, Spain-based electric company - UK subsidiary ScottishPower announces a EUR1.8 billion plan to repower Whitelee, the UK's largest onshore wind farm. The initiative involves replacing the current wind turbines with more modern and powerful turbines, increasing the complex's capacity from the current 539 megawatts to 1,000 megawatts. "Once completed, Whitelee would produce enough clean energy to supply more than one and a half million people," Iberdrola says.

Edenred SE - Issy-les-Moulineaux, France-based payment service provider - Abry Partners makes initial USD75 million investment in Edenred under a new strategy partnership. In exchange, it receives an undisclosed equity holding in Edenred Pay North America, convertible preferred shares that may be converted into 40% of Edenred Pay North America common shares on a fully diluted basis, and privileged access to the first USD150 million of Edenred Pay North America's equity value. "Under this agreement, Abry Partners will invest in Edenred Pay North America and drive the next phase of development of this market leading B2B payment automation platform in the United States, with the ambition to maximise value creation for both partners," company says.

Origin Energy Ltd - Sydney-based energy company - Says production of Integrated Gas-Australia Pacific LNG was 668 petajoule in the year ended June 30. Origin Energy June quarter revenue of Integrated Gas-Australia Pacific LNG was AUD1.96 billion. Expects fiscal 2027 production to be lower at 625 pj to 670 pj. Comments: "The conflict in the Middle East has continued to impact oil and LNG markets this quarter. Given the lag in Australia Pacific LNG's long-term LNG export contracts, the higher oil prices since February are expected to be reflected in FY27." Says the addition of battery storage capacity "has materially strengthened Origin's energy supply portfolio, providing improved flexibility in how we balance supply and demand, manage evening and seasonal peaks, and navigate volatility in the market." Additionally, Octopus and Kraken "continue to grow strongly." Notes "rapid international expansion" of Octopus Energy's UK business, with Germany and Italy each growing to more than one million customer accounts. Kraken continues to deliver "strong customer account gains" and double-digit revenue growth, Origin adds.

Kontron AG - Linz, Austria-based firm specialising in internet of things technologies and embedded computer solutions - 12.3 million shares have been tendered to Ennoconn Corp following the end of the acceptance period of the mandatory public offer, about 19.5%. Kontron notes Ennoconn will not hold a majority of the voting rights following completion of the transaction. Shareholders retain the right to withdraw their acceptance until all required regulatory approvals have been obtained. Completion is subject to foreign direct investment approval in Germany. "The conclusion of the acceptance period represents an important milestone in the transaction process. Kontron remains focused on delivering long-term value through technology leadership, operational excellence and continued execution of its strategic priorities," company says.

Chalice Mining Ltd - West Perth, Australia-based miner - Says feasibility study at Gonneville project continues. Key workstreams include: Metallurgical drilling for the upcoming 8-week continuous pilot plant; and design and long-lead ordering for the pilot plant, which is planned to commence in the third quarter, and which represents the final flowsheet de-risking step for project financiers.
