(AWP Alliance News) - Broadcom Inc on Tuesday said it will supply VMware products over 10 years to advance NTT Docomo Inc's private cloud.
Broadcom, a Palo Alto, California-based semiconductor and infrastructure software solutions company, has signed a 10-year agreement with the subsidiary of Tokyo-based information and communication technology services firm NTT Inc.
Under this agreement, Broadcom said it will "continuously advance the private cloud that will underpin the company's digital services over the next decade" using its unified private cloud platform, VMware Cloud Foundation.
VMware, acquired by Broadcom in November 2023, has helped Docomo build and operate its private cloud since 2019.
It is Broadcom Japan's first decade long agreement covering licenses, technical assistance and maintenance support for VMware products.
"Building on this collaboration, the two companies will now align their long term technology roadmaps to strengthen Docomo's service infrastructure," Broadcom said.
Hiroshi Ishimaru, general manager, Service Design Department, NTT Docomo, commented: "VMware products have long been used across a range of our systems, and through this long term comprehensive agreement, we will further strengthen our technical collaboration with Broadcom. Going forward, while maintaining the reliable delivery of our existing services, we aim to build a service infrastructure that delivers new value to customers more quickly and reliably, with an eye toward future technological advances such as the expanding use of AI."
No financial details have been disclosed.
Shares in Broadcom closed up 1.8% at USD334.59 each in New York on Monday before rising 0.4% after hours.
NTT shares were trading 0.5% higher at JPY176.00 each in Tokyo on Tuesday afternoon.
