(AWP Alliance News) - Siemens AG - Munich, Germany-based technology company - Partners with Regensburg, Germany-based voltage regulation technology maker Reinhausen GmbH to develop solid-state transformers, targeted at data centres. Aims to develop a modular transformer which will connect to a grid voltage of up to 36 kilovolts, to offer an 800 volt direct current output.
"Combining the technological strength of Siemens and [Reinhausen] will shape the future of power solutions for AI data centers. Solid-state transformers are critical for these large and power intensive structures. They enable higher efficiency, direct grid-to-rack DC conversion, and a reduced footprint," said Stephan May, chief executive of Electrification & Automation at Siemens. "This collaboration will further strengthen our leading position in the electrification of data centers."
