(AWP Alliance News) - US conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (BRK-A, BRK-B, BRKA, BRH.F), announced on Friday that Warren Buffett has been named Chairman Emeritus, effective immediately, in recognition of his contributions to the company and its owners. The ace investor and philanthropist will remain on the board and continue to provide judgment and perspective.
Consistent with its succession plan, the board elected director Howard Buffett as Chairman. Susan Decker will continue as Lead Independent Director.
Howard Buffett has led the Howard G. Buffett Foundation since 1999 and served as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador Against Hunger. He has held board roles at companies including Archer Daniels Midland, ConAgra Foods, Coca-Cola and Lindsay Corporation.
In pre-market activity on the NYSE, shares of Berkshire Hathaway were down 0.02 percent, changing hands at $509.02, after closing Thursday's regular session 2.04 percent lower.
