European stock movers in focus:
----------
Barratt Redrow, up 8.7% at 300.45p, 12-month range 235.40p-410.29p. The housebuilder reports mixed full-year results with adjusted profit topping guidance, tempered by a reduced outlook for the current financial year. It posts pretax profit of GBP363.5 million for the 52 weeks ended June 28, up 48% from GBP245.3 million on an aggregated basis a year earlier, as revenue rose 6.6% to GBP6.06 billion from GBP5.68 billion. For financial 2027, Barratt Redrow lowers its completions guidance to between 17,500 and 17,900 homes from 17,700 to 18,200, citing continued planning delays in the UK, and a consequent reduction to expected sales outlet openings.
----------
STMicroelectronics, up 2.0% at EUR42.64, 12-month range EUR18.20-EUR70.85. Artificial intelligence-linked stocks rebound, after tumbling at the start of the week. The head of AI firm Anthropic last week called for the development of AI to be slowed, sending shares in companies linked to the sector tumbling on Monday. Chief Executive Dario Amodei wrote in a blog post that he was now worried that in six to 12 months a collection of AI agents, known as a swarm, could be capable of taking over the entire internet and potentially causing hundreds of billions of dollars in damage. Within a few hours, Amodei received support from a key rival, the head of ChatGPT developer OpenAI. Also rebounding alongside STMicro, ASML Holding NV adds 2.4% in Amsterdam, while Infineon Technologies AG adds 1.4% in Frankfurt.
----------
Amadeus IT Group SA, up 1.0% at EUR54.60 in Madrid, 12-month range EUR46.21-EUR69.30. Deutsche Bank raises the travel technology firm to 'buy' from 'hold', believing its Global Distribution Systems business to be undervalued. "We upgrade Amadeus as we believe the market is pricing the GDS business as a low-value infrastructure layer, assuming AI agents and direct connectivity will structurally pressure both volumes and pricing. We think that is too harsh following discussions with key Amadeus executives as well as our own agentic AI experiments around travel booking. AI can change where travel demand starts and increase search intensity," analysts at the bank say.
----------
Babcock International Group PLC, up 1.0% at 1,003.00p in London, 12-month range 902.40p-1,527.00p. Ahead of its annual general meeting on Wednesday, the aerospace, defence and nuclear engineering company says trading has been in line with expectations for the first five months of its financial year, which concludes in March. "In this era of global tension and the rapidly changing nature of warfare, our priorities are clear: deliver for our customers, strengthen programme performance, maintain capital allocation discipline and convert our strong market positions into long-term growth. I am excited about the opportunities ahead," CEO Harry Holt says.
