Bank of America to buy UK information security consultancy firm MDSec

(AWP Alliance News) - Bank of America Corp on Thursday announced plans to acquire MDSec Consulting Ltd, an information security specialist based in Macclesfield, England.

The Charlotte, North Carolina-based lender did not disclose the financial details of the deal, which is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026.

BofA said MDSec provides "deeply technical information security-related consultancy services" with a team of 65 cybersecurity professionals.

The acquisition will supplement BofA's existing presence in the north of England where it has more than 1,400 employees based near Chester as well as a cyber threat operations centre.

BofA Chief Information Security Officer Kris Fador said: "We look forward to welcoming the MDSec team to Bank of America as we continue to enhance our leading cybersecurity capabilities in the UK and globally."

Shares in BofA ended 1.1% higher at USD61.73 in New York on Thursday before edging down slightly after hours.
