(AWP Alliance News) - The following is a round-up of updates by global companies, issued on Tuesday and not separately reported by Alliance News:
----------
Alcon AG - Geneva, Switzerland-based eye care company - Agrees to acquire Neurotech Pharmaceuticals Inc for USD550 million. The firm develops cell therapies for chronic and neurodegenerative eye diseases. "This acquisition expands Alcon's retina portfolio with Encelto, generic name revakinagene taroretcel-lwey, the first and only US FDA-approved treatment for adults with idiopathic Macular Telangiectasia Type 2," Alcon says. The company may be required to make additional contingent payments, including upon the achievement of commercial milestones, it noted. The transaction is expected to be modestly accretive to net sales growth and slightly dilutive to core diluted earnings per share in 2027, and accretive thereafter. "Neurotech's innovative platform sits at the intersection of cell therapy, pharmaceuticals, and surgery, making it a highly complementary addition to our current capabilities and advancing our vision for the future of retinal disease treatment," says David Endicott, chief executive officer of Alcon. "By combining Neurotech's groundbreaking science and established commercial footprint with Alcon's global reach and clinical expertise, we can help bring this innovation to more patients whose vision is threatened by MacTel."

Eni Spa - Rome-based energy company and Snam Spa - Milan-based transmission system operator - Eni and Snam's Ravenna carbon capture and storage phase 2 project is selected by the European Commission for funding under its 2025 Innovation Fund - Net-Zero Technologies, in the Large Scale category. The project will enable carbon dioxide from a wide range of Italian and EU industrial emitters to be collected by pipeline, ship, rail and road transport, for storage in offshore reservoirs in the Adriatic Sea. The development plan envisages reaching a storage capacity of 4 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year by 2030, with the potential for progressive expansion to 16 million tonnes per year in subsequent development phases.

Zoom Video Communications Inc - San Jose, California-based communications technology company - At its Zoomtopia customer conference, unveils a new unified context layer. Says the new layer "brings together conversations with near real-time activity across Zoom and connected third-party applications, giving people and AI agents access to business context that might otherwise be lost or siloed." "AI models are only as powerful as their understanding of your business, and that context makes all the difference," says CEO Eric Yuan. Fragmented product experiences isolate conversations, stall decisions, and drag businesses down. Today, with the unified context layer, we're laying the groundwork for a system of action designed to turn conversations into completed work."
----------
GE Healthcare Technologies Inc - Chicago, Illinois-based healthcare technology developer - Announces a global clinical evaluation program to assess StarGuide GX, its next-generation digital 4D SPECT/CT system, an imaging technology. "Nuclear medicine is entering a new era in which imaging is expected to do more than identify disease - it is increasingly being used to quantify biological processes, support treatment decisions and monitor response to therapy," says Erez Levy, executive director, Molecular Imaging. "By working across multiple regions and care environments, we aim to generate clinical and research insights that can help inform innovation as imaging, quantitation and workflow needs evolve."
----------
Broadcom Inc - Palo Alto, California-based chipmaker - Renews partnership with delivery company FedEx Corp. FedEx will continue to use Broadcom's infrastructure software portfolio, including VMware Cloud Foundation, VMware Avi Load Balancer and VMware Tanzu Platform. "This foundation of private cloud ensures that FedEx continues to deliver the fast, reliable, and efficient global services that power its day-to-day operations," Broadcom says. "FedEx sets the bar for technology leadership and innovation in the logistics industry, and we're proud to support that work," adds Regan McGrath, president, Americas, Broadcom. "By making VMware software central to their private cloud and app modernisation strategy, FedEx continues to optimise their infrastructure, simplify operations, and maintain a highly secure, modern environment that scales naturally with their business."
----------
Boeing Co - Crystal City, Virginia-based aerospace company - US Federal Aviation Administration certifies the Boeing 737-10, part of the 737 MAX family. Deliveries are expected to begin in the coming months. The aircraft serves 230 passengers, has the lowest per-seat cost of any single-aisle airplane in service, and offers 365 nautical miles more range than competitors without auxiliary fuel tanks, Boeing says. "Completing the certification program clears the path for us to deliver a Boeing airplane that will set a new standard in commercial aviation. The 737-10 offers greater capacity, longer range and the best seat economics in its class, a platform that will create more value and opportunities for airlines around the world," said Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
