(AWP Alliance News) - ABB Ltd on Monday announced that its partnership with Coolbrook Ltd advanced to the industrial delivery phase with a "first-of-its-kind" deployment of Coolbrook's RotoDynamic Heater technology at Adani Cement Ltd's Boyareddypalli plant in India.
The Zurich, Switzerland-based electrical engineering firm was awarded the full electrical equipment scope, including drives, motors, switchgear, transformers and an electric house integrated with its System 800xA control platform.
Coolbrook, a Helsinki-based developer of electrified high-temperature process technology, said the installation is designed to replace fossil fuel combustion in calcination and is expected to cut about 60,000 tonnes of carbon emissions per year.
"Supporting Coolbrook in the operational delivery of this first-of-its-kind industrial-scale installation is an important milestone. By providing the systems that enable high-temperature electrification in cement production, we are enabling industrial customers to reduce emissions while meeting their performance and productivity targets," said Joachim Braun, president, ABB's Process Industries division.
The companies said the project marks a major step in demonstrating industrial-scale electrified heat for cleaner cement production.
Shares in ABB ended 0.1% higher at CHF79.28 in Zurich on Monday.
